Biography
Award winning VFX Supervisor Craig Lyn has been in the film industry for well over a decade. Formerly at Industrial Light + Magic in Northern California as well as Framestore CFC in London England. A best selling author, magazine columnist, writer and director.
Starting his film career in 1997 at George Lucas’ Industrial Light + Magic, Craig honed his skills in the CG Modeling Department, the infamous Rebel Unit, the Digital Matte Painting Department, and finally the CG Department fulfilling the disciplines of a modeller, matte painter, technical director and compositor. During his tenure at ILM, he was involved in both film VFX as well as Commercial division projects, many of which were nominated for Academy Awards.
Craig joined Framestore CFC in 2001 to help lead the team that eventually won an Emmy and four VES Awards for the mini series Dinotopia. Since then, Craig’s been involved with a variety of different projects, ranging from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix to Universal’s summer blockbuster Wanted. During his tenure at Framestore, he helped transition the company from a small boutique into the film studio powerhouse that it is today.
At one of the high points of his career, Craig led a team for Fox's XMen: The Last Stand covering the full gamut of visual effects ranging from animatics to shoot supervision. Involved from the beginning of the project, the Framestore team participated in the pre-visualization as well as the conceptualization of many of the key sequences of the movie. On the post side of the project he supervised the pivotal Golden Gate Bridge sequence. For his work on XMen, Craig was short listed for the Oscar nomination for Best Visual FX.
Recently Craig’s begun to explore the role of Writer & Director. He directed the short film for the British Academy promoting the 2007 awards which was screened in over 1700 UK theaters as well as on BBC One. In addition he's recently completed his short film Closing Doors scheduled for entry into the short film competitions of 2009. Craig’s currently developing several feature films of his own including, The Fey, a supernatural thriller as well as Colossus, a science fiction epic.

Short Films
Closing Doors
In 2009 Craig completed his short film Closing Doors which chronicles the life of a young woman struggling with her past. With generous help from Panavision UK the film was shot entirely on 35mm Anamorphic over the course of two days and nights in Central London. Closing Doors is scheduled to be entered in the 2009 short film circuit.

The Glamour of BAFTA
Written and Directed in 2007, The Glamour of BAFTA is a short film used by the British Academy to promote the 2008 awards. This short was shown on over 1700 screens in the United Kingdom as well as broadcast on BBC One. Shot on the Panavision Genesis camera, the film takes place in and about East London.

Feature Films
Craig is curently developing several feature films including The Fey, a supernatural thriller, Albert's War, a WWII period drama, and Colossus, a science fiction epic. Several short films promoting these titles are scheduled to be shot in 2009.
